We have been living away from Derby and so one forgets details.
To celebrate our anniversary of our first date, we decided to go somewhere special. We'd forgotten what restaurants there were down Friargate, and so we wandered for a while, and of course then remembered where Zest was. How could we have forgotten? Marvelous food, marvelous setting, marvelous service. All at a good price.
We won't be as forgetful again!

After my first visit to Zest I thought I would leave feedback accordingly.
I booked a table for 4 people on Wednesday 18 January 2012, for 730pm.
When we arrived, the friendly staff showed us to a table, at the very top of the stairs. This was set out for 3 people and not 4 as I'd asked for when making the booking. The staff were prompt in collecting an extra set of cutlery and glassware for the 4th person. Unfortunately, I had to ask again for a napkin.
The ambience at Zest was very pleasant and welcoming.
Having ordered 4 starter's from the A La Carte Menu, unfortnately, when the waitress brought them over to the table, a mistake had been made and 3 fishcakes were put down instead of 2 fishcakes and 1 Pigeon. The correct order had been placed as one of my party enquired about the Pigeon and the waitress recommended it. This however, was soon rectified with a satisfactory outcome.
All courses served were of an excellent standard. The waitresses were attentive and friendly at all times.
Overall, our first experience at Zest was a pleasant and enjoyable one. We would recommend to our friend's/family to visit.
As a person who frequently dines out across the UK, one piece of feedback I would offer is that your cheeseboard selection I felt was slightly over-priced for the fact that the cheese offered was very poor in size for the price. I would rather of had fewer, larger pieces of cheese especially as we had asked if this was big enough for 3 people to have as a dessert and the waitress agreed. We were very disappointed with this option.

Just like to say thanks for a fantastic night, food and service was excellent. This was our first visit and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We will be back!!
A Wonderful Christmassy Evening
It was our first visit to Zest last night and my husband and I had a wonderful evening.
It was cold and blustery outside but once we walked into Zest there was a warm and inviting atmosphere. The service was great and the food was amazing, we will definitely come back.

My wife and I visited Zest for a meal during a weekend away for a joint birthday/wedding anniversary celebration. Had a lovely quiet table with perfect service and fantastic food. My wife, a vegetarian, commented that the vegetarian option was had one of the best restaurant meals she’d had in a long time. Great wine, food and atmosphere made for night we won’t forget for a long time.

just to let you know another great night. Food and wine were extremely good. Would suggest having a recommended wine list on the menu. It made a big difference having someone who knows about wine suggesting what to have. For saying I don't like fish the wine made it really enjoyable. Looking forward to the Mexican night

Came for a meal this evening with a group of friends, very varied menu options. Must say all the staff were extremely polite and attentive and a real asset to the business. Brought up in Derby but moved away over 20 years ago, but will definitely return to Zest when back in town.
Best restaurant ever!
I only discovered Zest about 4 years ago when i first went with my boyfriend and i have to say every time i have been i have not been disappointed!
The food is always exceptional and the service brilliant. Everytime we go we rave about the food and say how amazing it all was and cannot wait to go again.
I struggle with food as i have a wheat intolerance but the staff are always helpful in finding out what goes into the food and if possible getting the dish made without the wheat.
If you only ever eat at one restaurant again, make it Zest.

-Wine could be on offer on the evening to buy
-Really enjoyed sitting together in a very relaxed, informal manner; perhaps this could be explained on sitting down/before
-Perhaps more info on the area in this case the Loire Valley; a map, history, etc
-Overall, a very enjoyable evening + keep going
